Six Sentence Sunday: A Mist of Prophecies: The Party

A Mist of Prophecies: The Party

The ball of flame appeared inside the dark forest. It expanded then disappeared, leaving two gargoyles in the small clearing. The brick-red male dressed in a leather loincloth let go of the jade-green female dressed in a silk kimono. "Well, where and when are we?"

Sata threw her black hair over her shoulder. "We are here and now." She kissed Brooklyn's beak as he grimaced.

Summary: A Gargoyles: TimeDancer Fanfic. Brooklyn and Sata find themselves in the future, just in time for the MidSummer's Eve party given by some members of the Manhattan Clan. Members they have never met before. Well, all except one.

My whole purpose for a TimeDancer story was to foreshadow some of the things coming in stories I have planned to fit between Gargoyles: A Mist of Prophecies: Shivers the Heart to Hear (BookWorm's Library | Ao3) and TimeDancer: A Mist of Prophecies: The Party. I also wondered what happened to Jerusha after TimeDancer: Requiem. This story takes place between TimeDancer: Menagerie Part Two and TimeDancer: To the Soul, both second season episodes. I hope you enjoy the story.

Six Sentence Sunday: Wars Are Won By Those Who Dare: Reunions

Mice eased back from the floating silver sphere. The Captain frowned down at it and then at the salvaged transport booth it had just arrived through. "It reeks of stinkfish. Fry it," she ordered from the metal catwalk above.

The two closest mice pulled out their laser guns. Two shots and the blackened and cracked sphere fell to the floor.

Summary: Limburger's latest attempt to kill the Biker Mice results in transporting the bros and Charley to the Olympian Fury, a refugee ship reported destroyed during the Martian-Plutarkian War. But this new hope for the future is dashed by a threat worse than the Plutarkians.

Biker Mice From Mars: Reunions was the first Biker Mice fanfic I wrote back in 1994. I realized it was the second in sequence and then wrote its prequel, Jack-of-all-Trades to introduce Tala.

Fast forward to 2000. Having just complete the Jack-of-all-Trades rewrite that became Shatter Your Illusions (BookWorm's Library | Ao3, I still wasn't ready to end my Biker Mice writing kick (I was also in the middle of a summer class for Spanish and the furry trio was keeping me sane). I had the second story, Put Me Back Together (BookWorm's Library | Ao3), all planned out but a problem developed. The radio station wouldn't play Matchbox Twenty's "Bent" so I could tape it and get the lyrics. I had to have that song for the story. These were the days before you could ask the Internet for everything.

Not a problem. I'll just do the Reunions--now the third story in my series--rewrite next. So I got started. The essential plot didn't change: Limburger sending the bros and Charley to an asteroid mining/refugee spaceship that Throttle's half-mouse cousin Hot Rod is now the Captain of and the insane mouse in charge of the Internal Security forces, Colonel Exhaust, threatens the ship along with some slavers. I ditched the slavers and expanded everything else. I hope you enjoy this version and the rest of the series.

Charley Davidson smiled down at the appointment book laying open on the desk. Work had been steady for the past week. The bank balance was positive and would stay that way for a while thanks to her share of the three million. She glanced out the window in the Last Chance garage's office. She could see the bright blue, cloudless sky. "Life is good," she said to herself quietly.

Summary: Sequel to Shatter Your Illusions. Now that Throttle has lost Carbine, he feels that he has nothing left. Can Charley help him realize who still cares for him? Or will Limburger's goons confirm Throttle's worst fear?

This story was finished third in the series after deciding that I was going to write a sex scene and that yes, I would use Matchbox 20's "Bent" in it even though it broke my only use songs current to the time setting of the story rule. Throttle is in the middle break-up depression and Charley helps him get out of it, and the song lyrics describe it perfectly. I hope you enjoy this story and the rest of the series.

"Now this just reeks!"

Charley looked up from the carburetor she was working on to see Throttle crushing the morning paper in his fist. "I didn't have a chance to read that yet. A paying customer showed up first."

Throttle either didn't hear her or ignored her, for he chunked the stick of newsprint into the garbage can.

"This is why I don't bother with current events." Vinnie pulled two cards from his hand and drew two more from the stack. "You get all hot and bothered by it but there's nothing you can do about it."

Summary: Limburger is scheming, the Biker Mice are thwarting, and a new player is riding into Chicago--on a Martian bike. What do you believe and who can you trust?

Shatter Your Illusions started off as a much shorter story called Jack-of-all-Trades in 1994, back when Biker Mice From Mars was still on the air. In Jack, I introduced the character Tala who delivered the news to the Biker Mice that Carbine was dead. She ferried them to Mars, helped them solve Carbine's murder, and brought them back to Earth. And Vinnie fell for her hard. I finished the story and its sequel, Reunions, for my own amusement.

Fast forward to the year 2000. Surfing the Net one day, I stumbled across The Unofficial Biker Mice From Mars Fan Club's site. Hurray! I wasn't the only gal in love with the furry trio! And it seemed like everyone had tried their hand at Biker Mice fanfics. I was inspired (that's putting it mildly). I pulled out Jack and made a face; the six-years-old story needed a lot of help. Major overhaul work. But all in all, it was a fast rewrite of what turned out to be the first story of a series that will span a large chunk of the fandom universes I have written stories for. I hope you enjoy this story and the rest of the series.
